San Sebastián, 1953
He knows photography from his father’s hand and is deeply interested in it as soon as he turns twenty, coinciding with his university years. Self-taught in this first learning period, he practiced photographic conservation techniques such as bichromated rubber, while developing his own laboratory at home, to work, basically, in black and white.
He lived twelve years in Lanzarote. The Atlantic light, the volcanic beauty and his great fondness for sailing, marked with passion, his first productive period. During that time he exhibited in his hometown, San Sebastián, in the Photographic Society of Guipúzcoa, and in Lanzarote, in the Cinema Gallery, which alternated with reports made for the magazine Yate y Motonáutica, focused almost all on his sailing trip, for two years, by the Caribbean and Cape Verdean seas.
His second era has to do with the arrival in Asturias in 1993, land in which he established his residence. It is from then on when he participated in the experimental workshop of Humberto and in the “Cuaderno de Campo” by Joan Hernández Pijuan. In 2002 he aimed to publicize his work in individual and collective exhibitions: Dasto, Ángulo and Vértice Galleries in Oviedo, Luarca National Art Contest; Entrefotos 03, 04, 05 and 06, at the Conde Duque Cultural Center in Madrid; Artelisboa, Estampa, ArtMadrid and Madridfoto with the Vértice Gallery of Oviedo, Fundación Mondariz; Clicks of Extremadura; Notodofotofest; Finalist of the Aena 2010 award; finalist in one of the editions of the Purificación García Photography Contest, etc.
In the edition of Madridfoto 2010, he won the Acciona Photography Prize on sustainability, and recently he exhibited “Paisajes Rebelados” and some works from his latest series “Open Sky” in Brussels (House of Asturias in Brussels, Government of the Principality of Asturias) .
He has lived and worked in Oviedo since 1993.
