PASO DE GIGANTES refer us, like a visual cartography, to a predicted geography, with expedients and licitations, to spots linked to landscape transformations due to the large public infrastructures, currently suspended, and the use of public funds for the restoration or construction of singular buildings from cultural, scientific or social ambits, which are in a state of abandonment or simply demolished without having been used.

In RETORNOS (“Returns”), Cristina Ferrández shows us through photography the changes in some territories that seem pristine at first but, in reality, they barely show any treats of their initial purity.

The accelerated nature of times translates into blindness towards our surroundings, towards the impact of technologies, deforestation, pollution, waste generated by the capitalist system… All this without realizing that nature, like skin, has its memory.

Cristina works the field of the artistic creation like a crithical and reflexive process. She raises questions about our relationship with the environment and inhabitating the landscape by developing visual projects that raises the value of the territory. From different geographical and social perspectives, Palestine, Patagonia, the Athlantic and Mediterranean environments… Ferrández explores about the human, socioeconomic and environmental relationships that mark the future of natural landscapes.

Cristine’s multidisciplinary work take several formats in order to develop every project. Through the study of territory, Ferrández raises questions about gender, ecology, science, anthropology, sociology and human geography, which are used to show us her intimate zeitgeist, her compromise with the times in which she had to live. By addressing topics that goes form human life denaturalization, the anthropization of nature, the world parcellation and the exploit of its resources, the postindustrial and geopolitical future, the energy and the enhacement of non-tainted environments, her artwork concept suggests the implication in a global colective consciousness that implies the construction of a new statement about life in its entirety on the planet.
