Iria do Castelo

Iria do Castelo works on a surreal figuration inspired by a lysergic pop that walks between the terrible and the irresistible, between the hallucination and the fable. He is interested in eroticism while blurring the boundaries between the allowed and the forbidden.

In “Ritual”, Iria’s works are more suggestive than ever to make us partakers of her particular and strange world. And in her continuous search to interact with the viewer through space she gives us an experience and a journey that connects us to the inner world that inhabits each one of us, bringing us closer to our most primitive side full of contradictions.

She has obtained several awards among which it is worth mentioning that she has been awarded a residency artist at MAC (Museum of Contemporary Art A Coruña) or at the Uttarayan Arts Foundation (Vadodara, India). She has attended workshops with Antonio López, Eugenio Ampudia, Cabello / Carceller and Gabriel Abrantes. Recently she has benefited from one of MAC’s mobility aids to develop her ‘Be Loved’ project in Rotterdam. She has participated in Art Madrid, Art & Breakfast.
